What is this sorcery?

I know how you feel. I was putting in bookstore orders on my street date spreadsheet, and had to do a double-take at seeing that name. And it wasn't even the first book he'd "written" to be released.

I have two "Richard Castle" novels. They're actually quite well written. On the show, he has a poker game where other, real-life authors play (and play themselves); I suspect it's one of them. Or possibly more than one.

The writing is good and you can see the show influence in it. It's fun, and I like it, and yes, I'm aware that the author is not really Richard Castle, but a flesh and blood writer who sits and sweats in front of the screen.

I don't mind it.

Yay! I was hoping to hear from someone who had read the books. Thank you for the input, and if it is one of the authors he plays poker with on the show, it sounds like I was on the right track about the real writers being well compensated.

I don't necessarily mind it - I just wonder about the whole concept. I remember when I found out that VC Andrews had been dead for years and books still kept coming out under her name. I was kind of troubled by it then and I think that gut feeling is still there.

Seen another way, it does sound cool, to add a level of realism to the show. Again we like to blur those lines. :)
