Stargate SG-1

So it's looking as though Richard Dean Anderson will not be returning to SG-1 as a cast regular, if at all. This makes me sad.

But, I know that all good things do come to an end, and I'm consoled by the fact that since I joined the fandom quite late, I still have 8 past seasons to enjoy in their full RDA goodness. Also, I won't have to boycott the show or anything, because I don't hear anything about him being killed off (hell, they even killed Daniel off a few times and he always came back) so there's no evil backstabbyness to it, and there's still hope he could come back, and Ben Browder's his replacement (though 'replacement' is a strong word since I don't think he could literally 'replace' RDA, but it's cool that he'll be in it regardless. We likes him). [Source.]

Plus Claudia'll stop in a few times too. It doesn't make up for Farscape, but it'll be cool.

Jack better not be killed. That would sooo suck. :( *sniffles* I think they learned from the last time about killing off a main char, even if RDA can only appear in a handful, or less, of episodes.

I like your icon.

And yeah, I'm pretty sure they won't kill him off. I just hope they don't come up with some sucky explanation for his absence. That and I'm pretty sure Browder will be a better character than that Parker Lewis fellow.

Thank you!! I resized it and added the text. Just a quick pic. I wanted something that centered on the team, you know? I realized that I didn't have any icons that did that. So now I have that one and this one. :)

Your icon is very nice, too!! :-D Love Beckett!
I heard that Jack is still going to be important and what have you, but...*shrugs*

Hahah. Browder is just a better actor, IMO. I kind of hoping that he'll bring Crichton *sp?* over. *L* Not exactly the same char, but that snarkiness. He would have a perfect fit...just as long as he has chemistry with everyone.

My Beckett love knows no bounds.
In fact, it was through SGA that I got into SG-1, ironically. I came into this fandom very very late.

I know what you mean about Crichton, I miss him. I don't care if it's 'typecasting' or whatever, I want that snarkiness back.

*pets him* He's so darling, and soooo Scottish. *purr*

Hehe. Yay for that! Same here. I came into the fandom in July of this past year. *LOL* I had watched the show since the first season, but never did anything besides watching the eps. Now I thoroughly appreciate it and rp it. Rping made me become a fan of it, actually. I got stuck with a muse and he made me watch all the eps. No great pain to have a Danny muse in my head, though, given how alike we are. It's rather scary. *L*

*nod* That would be good. I'm mildly amused with the idea of 'what if John Crichton joined the SGC?' I think that would have been fun. *snicker* So I really hope they make a new char, but keep the core personality. I bet a lot of that comes from Browder himself, too. If that's the case, he'll probably do really well with Chris, Mike, and Amanda.

Didn't SG-1 get started on Showtime or HBO or something? That's how I didn't start watching it originally, plus I'm kind of a purist when it comes to movies turning into tv shows, I was all 'but... but... the same characters played by other actors??' and didn't really get into it even when they moved to Fox, because by that time I was also lost and had no idea what was going on.

Then they moved to Sci Fi and since I'm one of their minions, I ended up watching. I was still confused and sort of didn't pay much attention, but then Atlantis started and I was all 'finally, something I can start watching from the beginning', and one thing led to another now I'm hooked on both.

'what if John Crichton joined the SGC?'

Ha! I bet there's fanfic on that somewhere.

Showtime. *nod nod* They used to have "Sci-Friday" a very, very long time ago.

I think syndication started happening in the 5th season? Something like that. It's been around for a couple of years now.

Heh. I like how Jack and Danny are in the show over the movie, personally. The movie is just too short for me. Speaking of shortness factor, though, there's a series of like seven or so books that take place after the movie, but aren't tv show universe. I picked up three of them on E-Bay. Just waiting for them to come so I can start reading.

Ahh, a Sci Fi minion, I see. How cool. Yay for that. :) I've been watching since July, like I said, and in a little over five months, I've seen like 118 eps. I'm only missing 22 total. :-D I also have bought a couple of seasons, but still. *L* Only eps I haven't seen yet can be found in the 6th and 7th seasons, and like "Bane" from season 2, and that's it, from all I remember.

Gahhh. *holds head* I'm getting myself with Michael Welch again. He's the kid who played Mini-Jack in "Fragile Balance." I was just so impressed with him there. When he was appearing at a function near my house, I went to see him and needless to say...I got myself a crush. *L* Just sucks that he's seventeen. *clears throat*

The crush flared again just now because I'm at his site, and squeeing over pics of him with his new car, which he bought on the same day, a little earlier, before he went to the function. I can also read the small print on the license plate cover and see that he bought his car in a city that borders mine. *giggle*

All I can say is Not-Spader and Col. MacGyver have grown on me.

Ooh, you let me know how the books are.

I haven't seen Fragile Balance. But I'm thankful for SG-1 Mondays because yes, I watched all of them last night and it made me happy, yes precious.

Haha. I like it. *L* They do that to you; tagteam it and all. God I love that pairing. So much bloody subtext!!

I shall. :) I have Ashley McConnell's first book, that is an SG-1 one, and it's okay. Stopped holding my interest after a while, though. *L*

SG-1 Mondays are so helpful for all of us who need to catch up quickly. :-D

*lol* You know, I don't have an OTP in that show, they're all so interchangeable 'ship-wise. Like an OT4 more like it. But my SGA OTP is definitely Beckett/McKay.
Jan. 4th, 2005 02:28 pm (UTC)
Mine is Jack/Daniel, all the way. Look at the screencaps. *giggles* It's so amusing. But you're right, they are interchangeable. I'm not not that fond of Sam/Jack; that's to stereotypical.

Some time, I want to write a piece about how the lead female typically falls for the lead male and vice versa. It's very annoying sometimes, like when it isn't very plausable, or possible (in Sam's and Jack's case).

Oooh, yes, yes, yes. *glee*
Jan. 4th, 2005 02:41 pm (UTC)
For a long time I didn't 'see' Jack/Daniel, but then it became sort of inevitable. *lol* And "Avatar" totally sparked the Teal'c/Daniel for me. And you're right, it seems like Sam/Jack UST is sort of, expected, therefore forced. I'm glad they didn't hook up or anything, that would've just been... meh.

Have you read Mice's Beckett/McKay series? Much yumminess.
Jan. 4th, 2005 02:56 pm (UTC)
Heh. Oh yeah. Like I said, they get ya. :) There is something seriously yummy and sexy about Daniel and Jack banter. It makes me the fangirl and me the writer go squee.

Yep, it's very forced. Yet, a few of the writers, including Cooper, like Sam/Jack. Sam/Jack is safe, and yes, they do look hot together on screen, but that doesn't mean that they should marry or date or anything. Hm...well, not yet. Pete hasn't been a victim of the black widow yet. Give him time. *L* But I hope he makes it; I really like Pete.

My feelings are that the chars should end up with people who -aren't- one of the golden four. I read a great fic about this, too. Not hooking up the chars, but the chars who are outside of the golden four. The Fringers? I think that's what it's called. A lovely fic from Major Davis's pov. :-D http://www.gateworld.net/fanfic/archive/23/thefringers.html Very, very nicely done.

Nope, I can't say that I have read that one. I'll look it up, though! :-D Thanks!!
