Okay, I'm totally out of the loop. What is the wank on LJ now? Something about fandom? I'm completely clueless and I don't have time to clicky on all the linky.

Summarise please?

Journals and communities are being deleted for having anything vaguely related to child pornography, incest rape and the like listed as an interest.

A Lolita bookclub-style comm was deleted. People who have been abused are having their journals deleted. HP fandom has been decimated.

It's censorship. And it's fucking appalling.

Well, it's not that easy, (here via Atlantis_vid flist)

A group named Warriors of innocence made Lj delete a couple of 100 ljs and coms because of anything relating to child abuse, and all kinds of words relating to it like rape, kink and such stuff, following that HP fandom, Supernatural fandom and several coms which helped abuse victims as well as those of several abuse victims were deleted without notice. A orlando blood com, a com discussing a russian book author's work named "lolita" and several anime coms were delted for good with no chance to get them back as well, without a warning which is a big fat violation of the lj TOS.

And Lj has not yet given a offical statement why they, more than obviously, deleted a lot of people's stuff without a real reason. And that because of a not even officially known group that was never heard of before.

Needless to say, fandom is revolting.

I just posted about this. I have a link in my LJ with more info and a summary.

From LJ's point of view, they're worried that they could be held legally responsible for allowing a place where pedophiles and the like could congregate. This bogus Warriors group is doing this by pointing to LJ's interests lists and calling them a way for creeps to find like-minded creeps and LJ having these lists where these people can find each other could be construed as enabling (assisting?) an illegal act. Some of the comms are genuinely creepy and potentially illegal, but others are just fantasy porn, or, as it happens, about the book Lolita. LJ just sort of panicked and decided to be safe rather than sorry. From what little I read, they are giving the owners ways to back up their comms.
