The final frontier

So amidst all this economic chaos, the other day I found myself launching into the middle of a rant because they were announcing a shuttle flight taking off for the space station: "I'm all for space exploration, believe me, but how can we afford to do that this year, and why can't we focus on Earth this year and get things working and then go back to space?"

Then I read a press release this morning.

This morning President Obama was joined by Congressional leaders and middle school students from the Washington, DC area in the Roosevelt Room to congratulate the astronauts on the International Space Station and the Space Shuttle Discovery on their successful ongoing mission.
Okay, that's why we do it. Carry on.
