I feel like a tool but I really want a Kindle now that I've seen one up close.

I know I can't afford one for a while. So I feel even more like a tool when I look at a book I want to buy and think 'I don't have room in my flat for this, I should wait and get it fo Kindle'. *facepalm*

Well given the frequency which my book buying has dropped to for this very reason, I was pretty much only buying books from authors I know personally or already read their previous work. Which is not the way I'd prefer it, but it's what the space and budget limitations do. Once I get the Kindle I can open that up to more possibilities.

Hm, if you've already decided you'll get one, it probably makes more sense to wait. Plus, you save the trees and all that... ;)

So, I have a Kindle (that I didn't buy) and I'm totally behind the ebook thing, (fun for teh fic too) but is there one NOT tied to Amazon that would work for you?

I feel like maybe I'm a bit uptight but Amazon is apparently permanently skeevy to me.

Well I have seen Kindle IRL. I was impressed. Nook, for example, I have not had the opportunity to look at, and from what I've read, I'm thinking the Kindle is more along the lines of what I want.

Which brings me back to feeling like a tool because Amazon is all kinds of skeevy, but for the most part, whenever they do something failtastic they generally try to make amends in some form.

That said, if Nook comes out with a second generation that's improved on itself, I'll take a second look. I can't afford either one at this point so it's moot.
