The Stepsister Scheme, by Jim C. Hines

Out today is the new novel by Goblin Hero author Jim C. Hines, The Stepsister Scheme. I've had the opportunity to get to know Jim a little bit through his blog and mutual comments at jimhinesJim C. Hines on LiveJournal, and not only is he a great storyteller, he's a great guy too. My first encounter with him was through a mutual acquaintance online, and it just so happened he was giving away a copy of his first novel, Goblin Quest. But in order to acquire this copy, readers of his blog had to give him a good reason to be chosen.

I mentioned I had a dog with big ol' goblin ears. I think Jim chose me solely so he could see this zoological anomaly. Since then, I've been a loyal reader of his blog and often commenter.

But enough about me. Here's some words about The Stepsister Scheme:
What would happen if an author went back to the darker themes of the original fairy tales for his plots, and then crossed the Disney princesses with Charlie's Angels? What's delivered is The Stepsister Scheme-a whole new take on what happened to Cinderella and her prince after the wedding. And with Jim C. Hines penning the tale readers can bet it won't be "and they lived happily ever after." [Editor's Summary]

Danielle Whiteshore, aka Cinderella, reveals what really happens after the "happily ever after" as she, along with Snow White and Sleeping Beauty, race against time to rescue her husband, Prince Armand, from the clutches of some of fantasyland's most nefarious villains. Original. [Sears.com]
